I used to allow them to schedule their work, both homework and chores. Then I'd make them stick to their self-created schedules. That way, if they had something fun they wanted to do that was happening at a certain time, they could do that, but not at the expense of what they needed to do. I think they appreciated that, being more in charge of how they wanted things to go . . .

Thats a great idea. Not only giving them the power while still making them be responsible but how great a preperation is that for adulthood.

As with any drug, the drug isn't the problem. Pot was legal and widely available at the founding of this country. Our own founders grew it for consumption and as hemp (though hemp is not pot; pot can be used as hemp).
Minors consuming any drug is detrimental to their health and development. Minors consuming alcohol is also detrimental. It's legal. It's not encouraged. Heck, antibiotics are detrimental to your health. It's just that they are more detrimental to your infection than you.
Minors should be kept busy. Less supervision develops with trust and a pattern of consistency and adult thinking and responsibility. Minors who continue to act like irresponsible children continue to require supervision of that of irresponsible children.
Largely substance abuse is caused by the feminist imposed social problems, which include no parental supervision because they are both out of the house working.

Pot dealers don't ask for I.D.
prohibition ain't doing too much for the kids.
Very true. I also have seen first hand the positive affects of cannabis on Parkinson's disease. I'm not saying it doesn't have it's place in some instances. But I've played in bands for decades and I know WAY too many people who abused it daily and when you talk to them today they are as dumb as a box of rocks. And some of these guys are kids I went to school with who were once very intelligent.

I completely agree. It is best as a community and society to shin drug and alcohol use. A second best is teaching our kids to abstain.
