Sorry for the delay, I had a story with the kids that went of the rails a bit and took longer then exected. It was good though :)

It is tiny little hobbit hill... about 7X7 foot wide, about 3 feet high, I still need to build it higher but kinda ran outta steam and other things took priority. So before any further adding, I have to remove the 3 foot high weeds... hah... then add more soil and rock to get a beautiful gradient...

Sorry, I am not very technical in my speech, I tend to eyeball stuff mostly but the weeds have grown through the cheap floor mesh laid and completely ruined it... Dont know if it did any good in the end as a floor cover, it hindered the weeds like NOT at all, but oh well...

Also the ants, man the ants, the bitey red kind. Yay! Thank goodness for the rain, makes the task so much easier... I have my herbs in pots and I am tired of replanting them, they need a proper home...

So a small task compared to your redo the whole garden thing... you getting a digger to help? That sounds like a lot of digging, any ideas on what you want to do yet?

your hobbit hill sounds amazing. I think I've only submitted one thing to /v/diy and it was a hobbit house idea. like build a hill and put a little door on it. is that what yours is like?

regarding my garden, I've got plenty equipment but I think I'm going to use a little "mantis" type tiller. the big tiller needs a carburetor and I haven't ordered one yet. I've got a few sections of the garden that are still producing, so i dont wanna break out the tractor or digger.

thinking I'm gonna replant summer squash and zucchini. not sure if it's too early to plant my cool weather crops, but I'd like to do that sometime soon.

It does look amazing in my mind... but as I am planning to plant the herbs staggered according to their water and soil requirement, I guess in the end it will just look like a herb hill, real boring but functional.

I would love a proper hobbit hill or just mounds of earth for storing produce. I could make fake little hobbit doors... hehe, the imagination goes wild. But space is an issue for me at the moment. So I could only get one mound, hobbity hill of weedville. :D The Weedville Wobbletons of wee....

Produce storage mound is something else I would love to try... http://what-when-how.com/vegetable-gardening/outside-storage-vegetable-gardening/

I couldn't find your post, but I will check later.

We have a mantis tiller too, sweet little things... I guess we could start with other indoor seedlings to add and start preparing the beds for the Autumn crops. I can't wait but so much prep work awaits for me... anyhoo let us know how it all goes... don't hurt yourself now... horse liniment for stiff joints work great.
