Coffee grounds are good in compost, or around plants that need acidic soil.

Go to Starbucks and ask them for their used coffee grounds and then add it to your compost. Or you can use small amounts in your soil, but I've never done that. Too much of it, uncomposted, in your soil could throw off the pH.

Yes it worked wonders around my plantain and avocados. Check what type of soil requirements your plants need. Keep it away from the dogs if they prone to that sort of thing.
