If they had actual crime under control I might be ok with it. But as it is they constantly cheer about their distracted driving crackdowns and how many tickets they have given out while trying to keep us from looking behind the curtain at real crimes. Locally we have violent and property crime going up and up yet the cops only want to talk about tickets for folks looking at their phones at a stop light.

Can't have all the liberals killing themselves off before they vote... But in all seriousness not being able to use a device at a red light... give me a break, if some dumb ass forgets to go when its green just honk at them.

I don't know. I have mixed feelings about it as well. Humans are completely capable of multi-tasking. But, many functions on the phone these days are really to distracting or require to much attention to perform. I was an early adopter of cell technology, had a phone installed in the car. That phone was much easier to operate than this little hand held thing. I also thing making a phone call or talking on the phone really isn't as big of a problem as the texting. As someone else suggested I'd disable the text function if its moving at a more than a walk, but not the whole phone.

I hate this idea for when I'm a passenger or on public transit.

Driving a car is dangerous to yourself and others. There is no room for leniency.
