The DOD has been a leaking sieve of money since forever. I was in M.E. contracting for a while, and have seen all the waste. There was a lot of fraud going on where I was. Company didn't honor some terms of the contract we had. It was all a big cash grab. Company's office was staffed entirely by TCN's and each had their own rented vehicle, and 1/3 of force protection were TCN's also. It was a cost-plus contract, meaning they passed on whatever "costs" they could find and Uncle Sam would cut a check. Every cost was inflated at billing time. They outfitted us with crap: old, expired vests, uniforms some Haji made in the Souq, cheapest boots the Chinese could make, M16A2's, M9 Beretta's, M60's, M2's and all other weapons and equipment were old. We only went to range once per year to qualify, never to train -- and that's just off the top of my head. On the bright side, we stayed off base in decent villas and had our pick of wonderful Asian ladies who loved Americans. Just hang your blue passport on a chain around your neck at the hotel bar.

20k a piece needs returned to each American unless you're on government assistance.

No no no. We need to complain that people on welfare aren't working because of the clawbacks and kick them off by introducing work requirements instead of fixing the actual problem. Geez, do you not know how politics work?

To be fair welfare fraud is also a problem, I dont want to support a bunch of freeloading parasites for several generations. Its bad for the gene pool of the country. Though this fraud perpetrated by every government agency is admittedly a much bigger problem.
