Chomsky is also notoriously critical of "intellectuals." He's not Thomas Sowell but you can tell he holds them in mostly low regard.
65 percent of self-identified conservatives now say that colleges and universities have a negative impact on the country.
No reason why asked for though. Could it be that people are taking on debt they shouldn't for degrees that will never pay that back? Sounds like a good reason to think college has a negative impact. Could it be that we see the programs being offered just to make money (all the special interest studies and video games classes) and think those are a negative impact? Maybe we aren't against education or being intelligent but against the "everybody has to go to college" bullshit.

Too many upper education people i know, use academia to shield themselves from the world. I've even heard some say that Academia is shielded from the very fabric of society, since they dont abide to regular supply/demand curves. What i find sad, is in the same breath they demand voting rights, even though they themseleves admitted they have no fucking clue about any of the mechanics surrounding the real world. Most have no idea what FICA,SS, Income tax, Federal/State tax rates, progressive tax rates even is, since they make so little they are completely unaffected by the very policies they espouse(Lets raise taxes on everyone making 65K by 10%, luckily we only make 35K, so we should give ourselves a 5% subsidy/tax credit. Whats that? You're willing to give me a job making more money? Naah, ill keep my current job, since i dont want to get fucked by the very policies i'm trying to push). Academia is nothing more than hypocrites and thieves, anyone who actually strives to become something leaves the place pretty fucking quick.

Unless you go to college and have been dumb down by the " program " then you are deplorable.
