There are plenty of things I want to be able to examine before I buy them.

Clothing, nothing ever fits the same, even with the same measurements. (Inseam/waist...) I also want to see how they look on me.

Food. I want to examine anything fresh to check for spoilage. Fruits, vegetables, meat, frozen goods.

I really don't care about boxed, canned or bottled items, except to ensure they're not dented, cracked or previously opened.

Televisions. I want to hold the remote, see the quality of the picture next to similar models. See how shiny the screen is when light hits it.

For a whole lot of other items, it just doesn't matter.

Retailers with brick and mortar stores haven't really changed in years. Without a sufficient push, they won't, until they go out of business.

This isn't really a change. I've seen stores and chains come and go, take as much profit as they could, and then go bankrupt for years and years.
