Psycopathy is genetic and Sociopathy is learned behavior. Both have a root in Antisocial personality disorder. Where as "pleasure" is more from exerting control and inflation of the EGO. The basic world view is so different from baseline thought that it would be hard to imagine how one would see the world, and the people in them. I would think as a set of tools to be used, like you don't feel guilty that the hammer you used to pound the nail got a crack in the handle; annoyed that you hve to find another hammer maybe, but not guilt.

I wonder if it is. I met a family of sociopaths once, or maybe just autistic. Most human concepts fly right over their head.

The cause of psychopathy is different than the cause of sociopathy. It is believed that psychopathy is the largely the result of “nature” (genetics) while sociopathy is more likely the result of “nurture” (environment). Psychopathy is related to a physiological defect that results in the underdevelopment of the part of the brain responsible for impulse control and emotions. Sociopathy, on the other hand, is more likely the product of childhood trauma and physical/emotional abuse. Because sociopathy appears to be learned rather than innate, sociopaths are capable of empathy in certain limited circumstances but not in others, and with a few individuals but not others.

There are differing views on exactly what socio/psycho-pathy even are defined as. This is just one.

There is evidence for genetic predisposition. On the other hand there is also evidence that sociopathy is learned instead of being innate and that it's created through childhood trauma and physical/emotional abuse.
I think it's more genetic because they must have been born evil to live their lives without empathy or morals or respect for human dignity.

All sociopaths are born evil, huh? Crazy. So they must be pretty easy to spot, right? They couldn't, I dunno, learn how to pass themselves off as normal, live normal lives, be productive, and not spend all their days murdering people or being corporate shitnozzles? They absolutely MUST be evil?

Found the sociopath.

As @keksmex mentions, found the sociopath. So are you?
Do you realize that people who are more "human" have an inate requirement for other people around them to be human. The fact that you are productive doesn't mean you aren't a major psychological risk to everyone around you just for existing. Most people would prefer those curtains not be opened.

I don't think I was a little too harsh to label them like that. All of them are evil, and they are truly malicious people who derive pleasure from manipulating, abusing and using people. Because of this they don't deserve ANY sympathy or support.
