It's probably a combination. There are more ads, but you've probably also gotten used to on demand content with the Internet. So your expectations are different.

TV ads, I know not of what you speak.

I'm just a caveman. Your world is strange and terrifying to me.

I am writing from the future, can confirm, shows are getting shorter. Now in 2035 1h shows are 12 sec long, frame rate and resolution has increased to 45K@1200fps, thought.

We cut the cord so buying a TiVo OTA with lifetime subscription was great for us. It has a feature where new TV show can be recorded and then soon after played with the capability of skipping the commercials. The fast forward will also backup a few seconds to compensate for your delay in seeing the show start for when it is an older TV show without the green button skip ahead already done. Ours has 4 tuners and does an excellent job of getting the signal from the antenna/amplifier.

We have an older TiVo that my SO uses to transfer shows from unit to unit. So there are good options for over the air reception.

Depends on how popular the show is that you're watching

Everybody has started moving to online content. This has dropped views on TV and to catch up with costs they have to place on more ads. This then drives down viewership, and the great move to the net continues.
