That's probably the best point against right now. An opportunity like this would be more welcome after Voat has a sustainable business model, but that might mean missing out on the chance to carry the AMA ball if Reddit fumbles it.

So what? She's out of a job anyway. Assuming she enjoyed her work, this would be a way to at least avoid a gap in employment on her resume.

I do think it would be a mutually beneficial experience, but I don't think it's a small issue that Voat may not be able to compensate her for her work if she wanted to work here. /u/derram has a good point, and so do you, but I don't think either consideration eliminates the other.

That's my worry too. It seems like the opportunity would be perfect if it came along later down the road after Voat has a more sustainable business model, but since the opportunity is here and now I wonder if it's worth trying to make work. With Victoria gone, AMAs at Reddit have taken a blow, and there's lots of unofficial discussion about whether Reddit will be tightening its control on the process with screened questions and approved topics. Voat has a chance to take some of the wind out of Reddit's sails to bolster its own; I'm just wondering if it's a viable opportunity or not.

I think it would be advantageous to reach out to her and try to get her involved In this growing community with all her experience, but it would mostly serve as a side project for her and not really a sustainable job until voat takes off more.

That's probably the most sensible proposition. Thanks for your comment.

Not working for voat but it would be nice if she came clean about the hyprocracy and obtuse administration of reddit. Her working for voat would be like going from being an A list talkshow host to voluntarily serving homeless as a charity. I doubt voat has the find to give her a salary. It'll be nice though thst this will cause an even bigger backlash with crapdit.

Pao era Reddit seems like a hornet's nest you don't really want to kick if you don't have to. I wouldn't blame her if she didn't want to air Reddit's dirty laundry and have an army of SJWs or a frivolous lawsuit on her hands.

Before inviting her, we need to know why she was fired. I mean I hate deaddit as much as everyone here but they might have a legitimate reason to fire her. What if she was charging money under the table to promot AMAs for example?
Another thing, she's probably already heard of Voat, and I don't think she would be waiting for an invitation if she wanted to join Voat.
Oh and yet another thing, Voat is still too small of a community to attract celebrities to do AMAs anyway. So even if she's good and professional in her work, Voat is currently not the right platform for her to join.

Good points. I'd be hesitant to suspect anything unsavory on her part without any indication, but I think you're right about Voat being too small to attract the kinds of names that Reddit can. On the other hand, there are likely celebrities who had never heard of Reddit either before doing their AMAs, and something had to sell them on the idea. I think it's a good opportunity to look into, but it might have come too early in Voat's lifetime to be a viable opportunity.

She needs to earn a living wage, plus she lives in NY (very expensive place to live). Some other company looking for a PR person will probably snap her up soon, especially in NY.
Best thing to do is just revel in Reddit shooting themselves in the foot again. :)

No . Let reddit die and burn. Burn it to the ground
[–] ChillyHellion [S] ago
If it's burning already, might be a good opportunity to warm ourselves on the flames, right?
[–] Jamejohnson ago (edited ago)
Reddit is smoking but not on fire yet. But soon , soon reddit will burn and with it . Pao will be in jail with her (I think formerly gay) husband .

But...what would she do here?
[–] ChillyHellion [S] 0 points 3 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago
I'd imagine it would be mostly the same role from Reddit, which seems to be approaching well-known and interesting individuals to do AMAs on the platform. It could be a big plus to Voat's outreach, if she's interested.
[–] johnparish 0 points 3 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago
But the thing with Reddit was people were already interested in doing AMA's on Reddit. So she was a go-between between interested parties. I can see us having the same pull as Reddit at this time.

No one famous would bother their arse doing an ama on voat, it lacks users
