Simple. "F" what the companies designated slave driver tells me. If I want to leave, I leave, telling them is a courtesy. However, if you're on any level a human being who doesn't trust authority, you'll go to the bathroom, use the facilities, and depart with some paper towel. You'll then go to the fire alarm that's not on the security camera, pull that sonovabitch, and calmly leave the building like everyone else. Then you head to your transportation option and proceed home. If anyone asks later on why you were in the stairwell with no camera, you tell them you were smoking.

On your way home, if you've got a family, you pull over to text them to confirm if they're ok. Phone lines will be jammed hard, but texts remain in circulation until they're received. Make sure that you all have an advance selected safe word.

If my fam is in jeopardy, I leave as soon as I've made that determination.

Legal Ramifications be damned.

I kind of figured this would be the universal answer. I'm surprised by some of the others who would leave much sooner than me.

No legal ramifications, would help everyone else I could and would just leave.

No legal ramifications here. I can get out whenever I want

Once I had a boss that wanted to have meetings at lunch time. At the time I was going to the gym during those hours and I told him no.

He scheuled the meetings anyway and when I didn't show up he called me tonhis office and made a fuss about it.

I told him I needed to stay fit to be healthy and we were already working too many hours to go to the gym at night or before work so I had to go at lunch time. That I can always get a new job but getting a new heart is very difficult, so I would keep my gym time to stay fit.

I wish I had taken a picture. The bastard couldn't believe his ears. Anyway I kept my gym time and he had to reschedule.

I would have paid money to have been in that office.

Yeah it was actually hilarious. The boss was a brownie so he turned like a hue of deep purple.

In a different job they wanted me to work during the Xmas holidays. I told them I could easily get a new job but a Christmas with my aging parents simply could not be bought.

I work at an international airport and leaving has severe legal ramifications. I'll freely admit this does delay my bug out. But for me even a mild credible threat to my family like flooding or an impending storm is enough to get me thinking about when do I leave. I think if I lost the ability to communicate, it would be my final straw. We have the phones and Ham radio and if I couldn't get my wife or parents inside of an hour I would abandon post. My bosses would pitch an absolute shit fit too so telling them they aren't the number 1 priority in my life would be quite satisfying.
