I like the note series. Just make sure you get a model you can root. The one I have now, the bootloader is locked.

I'm primarily concerned with having a cheap phone that gets the job done. My current phone has 8GB of storage and is annoying me with "not enough storage" issues, so something with 16GB or 32GB would be nice.

Probably going to upgrade to whatever Republic Wireless has around the $150 range the next time there's a sale. Probably a Moto G something. Not interested in paying more than $20/month so I'll probably stick with RW as a provider.

My wife and I both have Nexus phones. The thing I love about it, is that there is no bloatware on the phone. Remove pretty much any crap, no more Tiger Woods Golf that I oddly can't disable or remove on my phone. Look into a phone that does that, its very nice.

That would be a mark for the Nexus, though it is still Google behind the OS and tech which is becoming a bigger mark against anything sporting the Google brand for me.

Agreed in general thus I didn't specifically recommend the Nexus, but ones that have no bloatware in them.

I loved the HTC M8, but the 9 was a disaster apparently, and I never even got the chance to put my hands on the 10, so I guess it was a flop too. I pulled the trigger on the LG G6 a couple months ago, and I really like it. My only issue is that there's no fastboot through ADB, so no root currently.

I'm using a M9 One, I haven't had any real issues. Only real faults I would say is the Peel Remote can't be fully uninstalled and I think nearly locked me out of my phone with a standby screen bug. I think I sorted it by restarting the phone, nearly was a disaster.

With that bug, was the screen never turning off? My wife and sister both had that problem with the M9, on different carriers, so I know it was an issue on HTC's end.

got one for the same price as a G5, and also really like it. plus the two camera gimmick is actually handy (one uses the natural FOV of the phone thickness so no distortion and no software fuckery, and the other uses a fisheye lens + software magic for normal phone pictures)

That is quite an old phone. Maybe time to upgrade...? Or downgrade? What sort of budget are you looking for? I think Huweii do good cheap smart phones.

Get the phone with the lowest SAR value.

To be honest, for now, I'd probably radiate the phone more than it would me.
