Shotgun under the bed in an easy to access place, she got her CHL after we started to date. Sig p238 for carry. She now loves guns and shooting.

Nice choice. I need (want) more Sig's.

If I had the former, she'd have the later and knew how to use it. You can't always be around to protect your family.

I taught both my wife and my kids in the safe handling firearms from the beginning. My wife never shot before we were married, but enjoys it a lot now and has a carry permit.

Both men and women should own and be proficient in immediately stopping someone with lethal force from a firearm.

Women, being smaller and weaker, need firearms even more than men. Women are more likely to be at a disadvantage in a violent confrontation.

Good job. The more sane women carrying the better.

Thank you for the kind words. I wholly agree regarding educating the kids too. I taught mine proper respect, handling, operation, and maintenance, just like my father taught me and my siblings, using Ruger 10/22 rifles similar to the ones sold half a century ago. They will teach my grandchildren the same way.

My father thaught me on his great uncle's .22 long rifle. It had an awesome carved stock and saddle rub from when he carried it horseback. Teach children the dangers of guns, and the precautions to take when handling them and they won't go playing with them. Instead they will grow up to out shoot you on the range :)
