This could be edited to work better with Abrahamic religions. Just make NYD a day of the week and the day of the week that starts each month will roll back one day per year. You would only need to remember for that year.

This also makes all the silly people who argue over which day of the week should be the start of a week happy. They all get a turn.

Being useful to people is part of the scope of a global standard. It's hardly any additional complexity and arguably having a non-day of the week is an equal amount of complexity.
