11% still seems too high, as in I refuse to believe 11% of all campuses had actual forcible rapes occur on them.
[–] senpaithatignoresyou 0 points 2 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago
Oh no, most of the rapes where woman on woman,or black man on someone else.
Google it
[–] blackguard19 1 point 8 points 9 points (+9|-1) ago
I assumed most of them were just girls getting drunk and regretting having sex the next morning..
[–] Thisismyvoatusername [S] 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
Why not? That most likely means there were a handful of rapes out of a population of hundreds of thousands.
[–] cdglow 0 points 3 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago
If that stat is right, I'd bet the majority of that 11% is just women regretting the sex and they decide to label it as rape because of the pussy pass:
I hate that this happens because real rape is an abhorrent crime but it's more than gotten to the point that you cannot take many of those stories seriously.
[–] Foralltoosee 2 points 1 point 3 points (+3|-2) ago
See, this is why they should just stick with being honest, because the truth sucks too. 11% of college campuses had reported rapes in a year? That's terrible. That's worth making noise about. The article was clearly written from the perspective of someone who wants a high(er) number for more shock value, but 11% of our higher education institutions reporting rapes so tied to their school that the school kept a report instead of letting the police handle it is pretty fucking high as it is. Why bother inflating the number?
[–] Thisismyvoatusername [S] 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
How can you determine that is high? It is not as though that means 100% of the women at 11% of universities reported being raped. It depends on how many reports there were on those 11% of campuses. Bear in mind that 11% of schools represents a female student population in the hundreds, or at least tens, of thousands. Meanwhile, 89% of campuses had no reports at all.
[–] Foralltoosee 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
It's not something I can really quantify I guess. I don't have a scale where I would determine something like what percentages are high vs. low. And yeah, I understand that it the university would be counted with a single report; I figure that the majority of the schools counted do in fact have a single report for the year. That's a lot. It's a lot of instances of rape in what should be one of our most cherished and protected institutions. And I would just define 'a lot' as far more than I would expect to see if everything were going as it should.
I'm not saying it's some 'rape culture' nonsense. Most often it's some fucking black asshole who got in on a sports scholarship and thinks it's entitled to act as it pleases because it's typically free from punishment. That's part of the whole "not protecting it" bit I mentioned.

B....but.....but one in five, one in three EVERY college woman gets raped at some point! Feminism told me so on the Internet!
[–] goat2017 0 points 6 points 6 points (+6|-0) ago (edited ago)
It's not even that narrow. I've seen the survey they used to get that 1/4 or 1/3 statistic.
Have you ever had sex after consuming drugs or alcohol ?
Have you ever had a dude start grinding on you on the dancefloor ?
Have you ever changed your mind part way through but were too afraid to say anything ?
Even if the woman answering the survey doesn't consider it rape, the people who wrote the survey do.
Seriously, stuff like that. We're living in a world where having 2 beers and then sleeping with someone is rape but migrants raping 9 year old boys In a public bathroom are 'sexual emergencies'.
[–] uvulectomy ago
And the worst part is they keep parroting these bullshit metrics, even though RAINN has told them to cut it out, because their make-believe stats are making it harder for ACTUAL victims to get help.
Let that sink in. An organization dedicated to helping ACTUAL VICTIMS of rape, sexual assault, and incest says "hey, your stats are bullshit and are making it harder for real victims to get help." and feminazis are all "Nope, we want our voices heard and fuck anyone who disagrees with us!"

I would.
I've been there before but stopped myself, stared fatty in the eyes and said "I could fuck you right now, but I won't." Giggle a little bit after that. Then came in her mouth and kicked her out.

So much for "1 in 5" - oh wait, this is because 98% (of unreported) rapists get away with it!
[–] l_voated_today 0 points 3 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago
There must be a ton of rapes going on at the other 11% to be getting us that 1 in 4 number.
[–] l_voated_today ago
The internet says there are around 2,400 four year colleges in the US with only about 60% with enrollments over 1,000 giving us 1,440 schools. Wikipedia says there are 107 historically black colleges or 7.4%, you may be on to something.
[–] 9085290? 1 point 29 points 30 points (+30|-1) ago
Just proof of the patriarchy and how prevalent rape culture is. Obviously every college has rape on campus but they are refusing to report it as such.
I wish I was just being sarcastic but I can promise someone will say just that and believe it.
[–] Foralltoosee 2 points 12 points 14 points (+14|-2) ago
Read the article you're commenting on and you'd confirm it for yourself, friend. It's literally the third sentence
[–] 9086664? 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago (edited ago)
Not sure why the downvoats. I read the article, but took that part as saying it differently than what I was saying. The article says the rapes were not reported to police. I was leaning more toward the patriarchy and rape culture lead the police/authorities to disregard the reports and never do anything about them by classifying them as something else if they even took the report at all.
[–] HeavyBrain ago
Only because they dont count meanspreading rape, and stare rape and regret rape and seem to forget that even with a lawyered up contract and video footage and ongoing consent after every thrust its still rape.
[–] cthulian_axioms ago
What does this word mean?
[–] 9090595? ago (edited ago)
I was going to say... it probably isn't much more prevalent within those confines than what's reported there but I think the worst of it has less to do with sex. It's really a lot of emotional and psychological manipulation that makes these girls so vulnerable.
