Math and science departments in colleges usually are focused on graduate and doctoral research. The professors have to keep publishing, and getting grants until they can get tenure. An unfortunate side effect of this is that undergrads don't get a lot of attention much of the time, particularly in classes like calculus, gen chem, rocks for jocks etc. where the college requires liberal arts majors to get a science class under their belt so they can say something about well rounded students, while milking them for all the money they're worth.

As far as foreigners teaching math and science classes goes; yeah it sucks sometimes when you can't understand them, but most americans are going for language arts, pottery, or gender studies.

I'm back in university after a career Change and this is what I see, 1 college is a paper mill, in the days before the internet you needed college as a guild and to learn something.college now is just getting a paper saying im smarter then x so let me get real job training, 2 teachers know this and most classes are about how may PowerPoint slides you can remember in 24 hours before a test. 3) 4.0 students and upper universities graduates only really amount to teachers or company statues figures. Statistically ive league grades earn shit salarys compared with regular graduates
