No shit more muscle means you have a higher basal metabolic rate. Everyone always fucking knew that.
They're getting their data from n=7 samples. What the actual fuck. They could've selected for mice who eat slightly less and ones who eat slightly more. Plus they use aged versus young mice. Everyone knows lab mice go under waaaay more stress than necessary -- they're ignoring the effects of a stress-induced life versus normal. They're proving again and again that the mouse model should not be used for metabolism due to stress factors all throughout its lives.
Overall this is pretty shit science. A bunch of worthless western blots and correlations between their little handpicked mice.

THIS IS THE SCIENCE OF FEELINGS SHITLORD.

"Chung said he has always been puzzled by the tendency of adults to gain weight as they age"
A scientist is puzzled by that? Jesus... couldn't have anything to do with no exercise, eating garbage, drinking too much, becoming sedentary, spending all your time at a desk at work or in front of the TV at home could it?
I'm 37 so not too far off middle age and I'm still fit... I must be a medical miracle!!!
...or it could be that I exercise 3-4 times a week and don't live off junk food.
These dipshits are just looking for ANY excuse that lets them avoid taking any personal responsibility for their actions.

Title says
Gaining weight is this molecule's fault
Article says
May play a role [in mice].
Every damn time. I hate this clickbait shit. It feeds fatlogic because hams are too lazy to read past the headline and juts assume that there is yet another junetik reason they are fat. It even concludes by saying that diet and exercise are still the primary tools, but no, that's no reason not to title the article, "It's okay to give up because nothing is within your control."

Please. You were just in the states. You've seen it. You know. They can and will blame it on anything and everything other than their failed pathetic life.

Well then put this enzyme to work solving our energy problems as it apparently skirts the laws of thermodynamics.
Also:
But the researchers said that, with more research, the findings could potentially lead to the development of new weight loss medications that would block this enzyme.
This would only give people more reason to eat too much because, "I'm taking <magic drug> so it's OK!" Not that this isn't bullshit to begin with.

Dude. Set this enzyme up with all of Americas waste crops (government subsidized corn, soy, etc...) and we have a biomass battery that would make sci fi proud.

"KFC" and "Unicorn Frappacino's" are enzymes?
It's never fatty's fault, is it?
