Why are they using expensive steel when they could be using prefab concrete?

Infrastructure. You can truck in steel and there's no expiration time on it. Concrete plants would need to be built close to the job site, infrastructure built for the plants including power and water, also non stop trucks bringing in aggregate or even train track built to supply it. Massive logistic issue over prefabbed steel which is absolutely cheaper and the wall can go up 10x faster.

Prefab concrete wall systems are far cheaper to produce than steel walls of the same height...and they can be shipped from preexisting factories.

Not enough. Wall should be way taller. They should also install underground motion sensors or something to detect tunneling. Still, it's better than what's in place now.

So true because nobody will ever notice that a wall, thousands of miles long, is missing.

It appears to have slats, like a picket fence. Are you certain the sections pictured are designed to stop water?

You are surely right. This "wall" is an existing piece of construction that the interim budget will pay to replace. These have slats in them so the border guards can see them coming, or so the story goes. I don't know any border guys.

Calling me stupid won't get our wall built, but I feel your angst. What's going on now is complete bullshit.

Hate to tell you but these pictures are "political spin" or what I call bullshit. The government has not been given any money to build the wall. These are pictures of the wall that already exists.

Naw, don't hate telling the truth. These are existing bits of wall that--yes--are going to be replaced with similar stuff.

Beautiful, but already there.

Um, that's Bush's border fence in Sunland Park as authorised by the 2006 Secure Fence Act.

No this is a picture literally from 1930's Germany guys. I've already heard several different explanations about why this isn't a new wall. You all should talk together and get your story straight, then present a single debunking narrative that provides evidence.

Throw a few illegal employers in jail. Costs nothing and far more effective. Politicians won't dare do that, though.

I love that fucking defeatist reporting "oh but they can just tunnel under the wall" what a piece of shit. It's as though he's saying we should do nothing at all. I bet he has no doors with locks installed at his home either since they can be defeated as well...

Build it with an opening every so many miles to funnel them to heavily manned checkpoints. Or just set up the surprise, "Welcome to America amigos " bonuses at the gaps
