I can just imagine small, localized, and independent monetary systems will pop up. That or barter will make a come back, and you'll find whole forums of people that only want to trade. There will always be cash.

Bitcoin doesn't really have widespread adoption by people that aren't fairly tech savvy.(The overwhelmingly vast majority of people aren't that savvy or they don't care) Bitcoin and its derivatives will have their place of course, but it will be along side all the other supplement methods to move cash around without being tied into the 'system'. The introduction of a cashless society will simply mean there's going to be an extra step now to convert things back and forth/in and out of a cashless system. But a cashless system ultimately won't do anything stop those kinds of transactions.

There are long established methods of moving vast sums of money around without actually using cash. As an example: drugs, weapons, and even human beings have long been for sale without the need for cash (although preferred obviously) and/or participation in the government approved system.

The only thing a cashless society will do is add extra steps to transactions if you don't want people to spy on everything you do.

They better be ready to end the war on drugs and legalize prostitution and gambling. It won't work in the USA otherwise.

It's already working. Have you gone into subway and try to pay with cash? They have no idea what to do with it,. They don't know how it relates to the numbers on the cash register.

Are the subway workers American by birth, or are they diversity hires?

I go occasionally to a variety of Subway stores. I've never had a problem paying with cash. Is it perhaps your particular store?

This is a fucking terrifying. It's only about control nothing else. However my way of getting around this will to keep 100 bill on me go out eat drink and then say I've lost my wallet, oh dear but I can pay in cash. Let's see how quickly they take cash then

What happens when you can't pay taxes with cash? That's the only backing for the dollar. Businesses won't want to accept it without a discount.

It will be like that rick and morty episode, only a hacker goes in, changes the value of the global currency, and watches the system fail.

too bad they wont be able to do anything to stop the transfer of value outside of the view of goverment. Gee, this item holds value in a small location, and you have an item I want. Lets trade.

I want to remove IMF by gassing them all with Hydrogen Cyanide. Seems like we're at odds here.

Getting rid of cash is awesome for the IMF. Since there is no comparator anymore for how much total currency value there is, it allows for greater currency manipulation. Whats one billion dollars when the "real" currency backing it doesnt exist anymore. I think @OneNutWonder has it wonder, all this is gonna end up doing is driving globalism away, and fostering local communities in its place. The harder they push, the worst it becomes, almost like push back is imminent...
