The story feels better if you think of the film as a disaster flick, and John is a force of nature.

Also, Falling Down
1993 so it's not as violent and crazy... but dude totally loses his shit and it's classic.

I could see them working together, or crossing paths and agreeing on an armistice when in proximity of each other.

The first time I watched John Wick, I was blown away by his cold rage. You can tell he's pissed, but he never loses control. The second time I watched it, I was impressed by how much savagery is contained in the choreography. They nailed this movie.

I enjoyed that they didn't kill us with exposition and try to explain everything. Like the Gold Coins. Nobody told us what they did, we all just figured it out. We have no real idea where they came from, or why... and none of us care. The group he was a part of is a complete mystery and it's so much better that way.
Movies try to hard to explain everything sometimes... and all that does is ruin the mystique and open up plot holes. Sometimes less information is more.

Agreed, Keanu doesn't have much dialog throughout the movie, but you still know what he is thinking. Reminds me of Hardy's Mad Max character, I'm pretty sure he only said 3 complete sentences in the whole movie.
