100 is set as normal because it is the average of all humans. The average IQ from 50 years ago would be less than 100 by today's standards because humans have gotten smarter.

Tests have also adapted and changed to bridge the gap of the nature of intelligence that we consider useful. Such as less emphasis on recitations and more on abstract problem solving and pattern recognition. Its worth noting that iq has a limited practical use and its more worthwhile to utilise specific task tests in order to gain insight into the nature of aptitude you are seeking for a select application

Inbreeding is a serious problem in those places.
the scary bit is the damage that is done lasts generations, so two unrelated people who are the result of incest will still have messed up children.
where as in the case of the gorilla, great steps have been taken to make sure that it was not inbred if raised in captivity.
As memes go, this is a zinger, but one would be stupid to take a meme at face value alone. The thing about this meme though, is when you dig deeper you find that there is a lot of peer reviewed research that corresponds with it.
