Why would 85% of users remove their own comments on /r/todayilearned?

Isn't that about the ratio of posts on todayIlearned that turn out not to be true?

Cancer. Aside from niche subs like jokes and cats or things like "audio engineering" or "fallout2tips"

There is zero reason to go there

Am I reading this right? AskReddit has almost 97% of posts and comments deleted?!

It looked like 50-90% of those deletions were by the commenter themselves, but that is still a staggeringly high number. Also its possible that the 'user' deletion stat is bogus since reddit likely was the source of the info.

Does that surprise you? It doesn't surprise me. Often what they do is purge whole comment threads. Lets say you say "fuck niggers" and 20 people comment back "you racist ree" and then ten more people comment to them, often times they just get rid of the whole thing. So from one comment you get 31 deletions.

Also these are from the top 25 threads. So probably 90% bought threads and the moderators remove anything non-hivemind.

No real surprises here. Reddit is heavily censored.
