I used to be part of a local credit union and they denied a shit ton of purchases I needed. Most here in US and some made online from companies in Europe. I was traveling to Chicago once and needed gas. Fuckers denied my card, AT THREE FUCKING STATIONS.

Switched to Chase, no issues. Works with my VPN and TOR. No denied charges either.

I o not like Chase, but I don't habe many options around here.

When purchases are denied, simply call customer service and authorize them. They're protecting your identity. If it's not resolved quickly there, don't just leave, demand you be transferred to 'customer retention.'

My gas issue wouldn't have been that bad of a deal breaker if I hadn't have been 300+ miles away. At that point I had enough. They were charging me overdraft fees, for $50 in gas. I have a gas guzzling truck and a few years back $50 would get me a full tank of gas. I also needed to order some specialty computer parts from Europe and China, for a PC I was repairing. Two order with a combined price of about $35, card denied. I called to ask why my card was denied, "We do not allow out of country purchases."

There's a rumor going around town that the same credit union is having financial issues.

There is one other credit union, that I know of, I could try. They seem sketchy to me. I live in southern Indiana so there really aren't that many around here.
