I think minors should be eligible after a proficiency test. If I have a 12 year old who can fire, load, unload, disassemble, and clean a firearm he should be able to carry. Not even gonna mention the current target test, grandmothers can shoot a 22 at a pie plate, a 12 year old would pass easily

Needing a permit still means they are doing it wrong but at least it's a step in the right direction.

I agree ... however, that said, I'd rather pay them for the license than to pay attorneys and all the legal fees involved in being caught without it. Not to mention likely losing my right to carry, rightly or wrongly, too.

I somewhat question 18 year olds now days. But if you can serve and have a firearm. Then nothing should change at home. We are what we make.
