I've been telling people for years that copyright law is extremely dangerous, and that it has far more to it than just downloading songs.

I suspect that by the time people realize that I'm right, it's going to be a very long, hard battle to get to somewhere reasonable. Hopefully by that time, assuming success, they'll have the brains to do away with other parts of it that are just as dangerous in different ways, e.g. the 'time limited' provision that's effectively 'one planck second before the heat death of the universe.'

In the meantime, though, we're looking at the Internet of Things effectively meaning corporations own just about every gadget they can get their hands on, regardless of if you paid for it or not, and they will be pushing for legislation to make it a crime to try to do what you wish to with your own property, and probably a crime to have a computer unencumbered with external controls for corporate intervention and spying, and hardware-enforced DRM. I've actually seen at least one asswipe on Slashdot (hopefully a paid shill) say we should submit to this gladly because that's our place in society. That said, I'm just glad that TPP didn't pass... that's a real nightmare scenario for this stuff. Though I suspect they may try to cram it through the process anyway (again) in a few years...

American tractors are going the way of printers. Belorussian tractors could become an alternative. They broke often but they are easy to repair. It maybe cheaper to quick fix tractor once a weak than to wait "certified" repairman for the whole day to fix $1 indicator.

This is how you fail as a corporation, and as a human being.

The more these scumbags try and profit from their own design failures (less reliability is being turned into avenues of profit) - the less brand loyalty they will have. Eventually they will only be able to sell trucker hats to hipsters.

John Deere will be getting more and more Dear John letters until they stop being fucking parasites.

Now that farmers are seriously concerned about IP law abuse we may see some reform.

Sadly farmers are becoming mega corporate farm management services. Who will lap this shit up as just more stuff to deduct on taxes all while punishing the little guy.

Sooner or later what happened to media will happen to farms. Owned by just a few people...

In CA there are actually more small independent farms now than in the past. It's basically a bunch of rich white people who are sick of the city life and buy farms. They go organic and sell shit for 4x teh cost of regular shit. People eat it up.
