@neodevi@OzarkMountainMan I saw your guys discussion on the morel post and totally wanted to direct you to this resource. It's a map created for urban foragers highlighting edible trees. And I see fig trees in central NC, making me totally jealous.
Actually I've found a couple wild fig trees... they're always chomped by deer before I get there though! Even the unripe green babies get snagged at times. Oh well, the deer have to eat too!
Where I live, it's lucky there is a lot of wild fruit growing along highways. There was a time when I was so poor, foraged fruit was half my days calories. Such a valuable skill.
