So, how is the game? Never been a huge ES fan, but some of the guys in my Destiny Clan are playing it and like it. Need some outside opinions before I drop the cash on the game.

I don't yet have 20 hours into the game, but I can give you some first impressions.

It definitely feels like an MMO at times with some quests (kill 20 of these things, hand in, etc.) and in towns, which is to be expected. It's very ES when exploring caves and dungeons and reading/listening to townfolk and lore -- I find myself wanting to explore everything.

With other ES games, I'd look in every crate, barrel, and urn I come across, though I don't have the same sense of urgency or want. It may be because I'm with friends or feel the need to rush and grind through the levels, but it's a bit disappointing. That being said, if I'm exploring and come across a cave or somewhere that looks interesting, I'll damn well have a gander.

The menu system is a bit overly complicated and crowded, and I have encountered a few errors whilst loading the game (none of them game-breaking or requiring a restart-- mostly UI errors). Looking for friends on the in-game Social hub is also glitched and requires you to unfriend and refriend anyone you wish to party with.

I've not tried PVP so I can't give you anything on that, but in general I find the combat to be very ES, which is a good thing imo.

My main gripe with the game so far is not being able to devour 20 cheese wheels, 32 apples, a magicka potion, several carrots, random herbs, and a sweet roll mid-combat, but that's just me.

If you have any questions about it, let me know!

PvP is really a lot of fun. If your over level 10 I highly recommend you give it a shot. As far as eating a bunch of food to recoup health, simply be a Templar yourself or befriend one & you'll be untouchable.

Personally I love it. If you're not into ES it may be difficult to get into though having friends who play will help immensely. If you do decide to get it make sure you join the same alliance as they've joined or you won't be able to quest with them. Also, if you have a Family Video near you I highly recommend paying them a visit. They've got a midnight return time so if you have weekends off for example for $3 you can rent it when you get out of work Friday, play all night & all day Saturday. By midnight Saturday you'll know whether or not you want to own it. Visiting Family Video has the secondary benefit of also potentially getting you the game far cheaper. Mine for example had 8 copies & already have 4 up for sale $30 each. Had I not of bought it full price from the store, this is definitely the way I'd of gone myself. If you do get on, I'm a Khijat named Cathmor. If that happens to be the alliance your friends are in, hit me up & I'll help you out.

I have been a fan of ES since Arena. I gave TU a shot, but in the end it felt too 'disconnected'. It felt to me that I was always four or five feet from everything. Just didn't have that visceral 'being there' vibe. Be it in first person or third person mode I always felt like I was swinging at air. Not to say that the other ES games got it exactly right bu any means, but something about TU just feels very sterile and distant. Just not my cup o' tea I suppose.
