About 23 years ago if im not mistaken. I'll stand on my soapbox for minute: Kerplunk was punky and angsty which was a breath of fresh air in the early 90's. They followed with Dookie, which seemed like the entire album was gold, not to mention back in the day there were "secret" tracks on albums and this had a pretty funny one. They followed Dookie with Insomniac which still had heavy punk influence but a lot of songs were kind of . . . . I dont even know. Next was Nimrod which gave us Good Riddance and started the decline. If you went to High school between '97-'05 this song was played at the end of every senior year. Seriously. Every graduation dance had this. Warning came in 2000 and thats when Greenday started to "explore" other sounds and styles. With songs like Minority, and Warning they started to lay the foundation of what would eventually become their sellout sound. After Warning everything went down hill for Green Day. Struggling to stay relavent and "edgy" they released the Anti-american, anti-bush, anti-punk, American Idiot. American idiot has ONE song that is actually decent. The rest of the album is shit. The one song that IMO is the only good one; Whatsername. The song has old school power chords, good verbiage, and it harkens back to Nimrod. That is it. From American idiot Billy Joe Armstrong went full on sjw and has sucked butthole ever since.

"Zieg Heil to the president Gasman"
The cringe alone generated by this one line was enough. This is when I stopped liking Greenday.

Same with Rage against the machine. They trying to act political and 'against' the corrupt establishment. But it turned out they were controlled by them the whole time to make people think that there is some music in the mainstream against it, but they are just propagandists for it.

No. Was this period sometime before their first album?
