Yeah they took it down the same day I posted it. What I put in quotes was copy/pasted from their facebook post.

I've been to the Pisgah Inn many times. Their gift shop is a tiny little shop attached to a restaurant, overstuffed with chintzy souvenirs and blue-ridge knick knacks. I don't recall ever seeing a confederate flag in there, so I don't think it will be too big a loss for them.

I can understand people asking for the flag to not be flown on government grounds. It's a bit iffy, but I can understand it.

The massive "RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE" about the flag in general just seems to be appeasing the overly sensitive. If you have an issue with the flag, don't shop from places that sell it. Vote with your wallet and all that. This whole thing just gives the flag more legitimacy.

This is government censorship.

Don't see that on their page but they now have something else posted about freedoms.

Edit: Now that's gone too. Got a screenshot though.

Interesting. I wonder why they took it down.

Their response was that the owner mistakenly posted it (the freedoms message) to the business page instead of his personal page. I do really wonder about the other post though. Probably thought it was best just to keep quiet about it and then took it down.

As of now, it's a symbol of free speech and defiance. These fascists have given it that dignity.

Sent them a message. No reply yet.

Edit: They replied concerning the small message about losing freedoms that was deleted but sadly no details about the government request. They also have a history of disagreeing with government actions (government shutdown) so I thought it would make an interesting story.

While I disagree that it is offensive and represents slavery and racism (I'm from the south and had multiple ancestors fight in the Cival war on the side of the Confederates, all of whom far too poor to own slaves), it is your prerogative as to whether or not you wish to carry and sell Confederate items.

This post may be better suited for /v/askvoat though.

That was a quote from Pisgah Inn on facebook. I'll make an edit to show this.

Ah, I thought you either owned the inn or was otherwise affiliated with it and was asking our opinions on y'all's decision.

I still stand by my comments though.

I'm not sure how voluntary it is when an entity capable of destroying your life asks.

It isn't voluntary at all. This is intimidation, plain and simple.
