While gasoline can likely keep for months to years, environmental factors such as heat, oxygen and humidity influence the fuel's condition, Speight said.

I don't doubt changing the fuel is the best course, but my October gas seems to run fine in April.

I agree, old gas has that smell that makes ya wanna chuck it.

Yes, when you put the lawn mower away for the season, empty the gas tank and refill with fresh gas next season or you'll never start the sucker.

Or use a gas stabilizer
