Member buying something with the change in your pocket then realizing you didn't have a dime left to call your mom to pick you up?

No. You could only buy a few minutes for a dime.

1947...young girl working as an operator...night shift. Brooklyn, NY. Incoming call from upstate to her boyfriend's family number. She listens in with a big smile and snapping gum and winking at the other operator that let her know she might be interested in hearing this phone call. ....."We regret to inform you that your son has died in an accident".....

It was her fiancé.

...true story

About 5 years ago a vending machine was jammed up, so I put my hand up the chute and pulled out 6 cans and mine :-) didn't have to rock it.

My older cousin, the bad boy of the family, told me not to rock the machines because they would fall on me. Instead he gave me some blank coins that were worth their weight in quarters. I used those slugs to buy snacks and drinks for free all summer.
