It never was.
Up until some where during Clinton's first term I can remember that you could basically trust what you saw on the news or in the paper
Bullshit!
The msm has never been trustable.
they have been lying since the invention of the printing press and probably before.

Clinton is Bill and Hillary is Hillary. member came after Clinton IRC.
I saw the decline start in Bill's second term when the shit really started hitting the fan for him.
News has always been biased but it used to be also aligned to its readership which it no longer is.

Today that is how it goes.
I'm not denying that news isn't biased just that before Clinton it was at least more neutral or would try to fact check before blurting out, "Fact XYZ".

All Sides is your best bet as a news aggregator that labels each news source as neutral, left/right, or left/right wing.
[–] WhiteRonin [S] 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
That is modern! Awesome how they line up all 3 and you can see how the headlines are almost opposite!
Thanks!
[–] WhiteRonin [S] ago
I have done that pretty much since the elections started
I listen to Rush and Levin (sometimes) and they are blatant conservatives so at least you know where to stand.
But then where do you find out what's happening in Europe and such? You have to stay ahead of the game.

Is there any journalistic sites left that believe in actually doing fact checks for national covetage?
No. There's nowhere you can go.
[–] WhiteRonin [S] ago
Hmm, I guess the only place is like here on voat and jump into conversations and hope to come across people who are familiar with the subject.

Take any news story with an enormous grain of salt. Do your own digging for the truth.
[–] WhiteRonin [S] 0 points 2 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago
Like hire a dick to take pictures and shit? How else can. You get to the truth these days?
I do agree though ...

It disturbs me that people who dismiss cable news as unreliable will then happily believe internet news, and shit like conspiracy theories and infowars.
Without actually going to, e.g. Syria and talking to or witnessing it for yourself, you have to get your information thru some media source. Reading primary sources, like reading Bills or U.N. reports, takes too long, so you never really know what's happening on the world stage.
Yet idiots here will confidently assert, "Mainstream media is lying! The real news is this thing I just read on Breitbart!" It frightens me that people are that gullible.
[–] basedputin 1 point 1 point 2 points (+2|-1) ago
i agree breitbart and infowars are (((controlled opposition)))

I spent watching US news from cable sources and from Japan's local news ... It's amazing how the same news is covered differently. 9/11 was a horror show and reversely the Fukushima internal coverage was a horror show.
So, I agree with your points.
[–] WhiteRonin [S] 1 point 3 points 4 points (+4|-1) ago
In a way but I'm not asking if voat isn't biased and I did mention that it was.
I tend to think voat has been red pilled but there is also now a growing neo-nazi breeding ground faction too.

"I tend to think voat has been red pilled but there is also now a growing neo-nazi breeding ground faction too."
Says the "redpilled" normy still worried about being called a racist nazi
Kevin strom is a " White nationalist, neo-Nazi, Holocaust denier, White separatist" according to wikipedia
Based on that you would certainly assume he wants to gas all jews
...
Yeah those evil neo nazi
Let's kill hitler once again, draft dodgers of the world, unite !

That's only because everywhere else (except 4Chan) will likely kick them out.

This has always been an issue. The free flow of information that is the internet makes the situation more noticeable.
[–] WhiteRonin [S] ago
Back then people knew the stance of the paper by the content of its editorials or owner.
The free flow of the internet also has expanded the editorial section to headline status.
