Motherfuckers. Why would they dox anyone? Was her email address critical to the story? I am having trouble thinking of any reason the AP would print someone's private email address.

Yes... they knew what they were doing.

Of course I know why they did it to her specifically. But my question stands because I wasn't getting at the issue this time. Who she is shouldn't matter to the principle involved. I'd really like them to explain why doxing someone would ever be necessary in an article. It seems like they should have a rule that you simply do not put that type,of personal information in a story (about anyone) unless it was actually required for the story itself.

... I actually don't know. Is it just mere intimidation?

As Instapundit's Glenn Reynolds says, think of them as political operatives with bylines and you won't go far wrong.

Guess who's getting audited by the IRS this year.

That would be fair I think.

I agree completely.

There was no journalistic reason for them to publish that. So I think an audit would be fair insofar as what did they stand to gain from doxxing her... and from (((whom))).

When a system breaks down it is apparent by the system's actions.

The press is broken and this is obvious proof, who the hell doxes the Second Lady!?! These people are all presstitutes.

Toss the AP out of press pool meetings until they can learn the meaning of sensitive information.

Turn about is fair play. We know their work emails. Let's find their personal emails. I'm sure they'd love to get a ton of vitriolic emails in their personal accounts, right?
