https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_South_Korean_political_scandal

Choi and President Park's senior staffs including both Ahn Jong-bum and Jeong Ho-sung have allegedly used their influence to extort ₩77.4 billion($60 million) from Korean chaebols—family-owned large business conglomerates—and set up two culture and sports-related foundations, Mir and K-sports foundations.[16][17][18]

On November 6, Top presidential aides Ahn Jong-bum and Jeong Ho-sung were arrested for abusing power and aiding Choi.[19][20] The Supreme Prosecutors' Office of Korea(SPO), in laying charges against Choi and two former presidential aides, have alleged that President Park colluded with the three in certain criminal activities.

On December 31, a chief of the National Pension Fund and former health & welfare minister Moon Hyung-pyo was arrested for pressuring the state fund to back a major merger deal for Samsung C&T

Not a pedophile, just another corrupt politician in the pocket of business leaders.

Basically, it's been revealed/leaked that President Park Geun-hye was being shadow-governed by 8 people, the first confirmed person being a psychic. This was cemented when she more-or-less admitted this publicly. There are rumors that she has ties to a cult, which is where the occultist stuff is coming from, and there is some evidence to this cult connection.

http://www.oneangrygamer.net/2016/10/south-korean-officials-forced-to-resign-amid-8-goddesses-corruption-conspiracy/15419/ For a quick summary.

http://thediplomat.com/2017/01/the-history-of-a-scandal-how-south-koreas-president-was-impeached/ For a little more in-depth. It's hard to find real information on it, especially as Western MSM is entirely unreliable, either because they don't actually know what is going on or because their biases won't let them be truthful.

South Korea has a history of protesting, and the bad old days before Democracy are only about thirty-five years ago. Where protesting in the US tends to be actions more for dirty hippies. There is a good chance that in some ways because of American respect for authority, we do have have less freedom than they do.

This Is A Lie the reason that it's all going to hell it's because the president was sharing classified information with a guy who was not cleared to see such information

Citizens are not allowed to own guns. Males are required to serve 2 years in the military. Cannabis is so illegal that foreigners are deported and citizens are imprisoned just for testing positive. They can't even get an email account without giving up their government ID numbers.

So no, they're not more free than americans.

They do, however, have a largely cash based society so commerce (on a local level) is not as controlled as it is in the US.

I've recently heard that weed stops mind control. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Ha. I saw that too. And you're right, actually. In the 70's, weed started to gain popularity in korea amongst artists and musicians. (US troops who were stationed there introduced it to the locals.) The dictator at the time, president Park's father saw that the stoners were rejecting the groupthink and coming to their own conclusions about shit, and that pissed him off. So he started an enormous anti-cannabis campaign that is still in effect today. The way (south) koreans view weed is like the movie "Reefer Madness". They are terrified of it.

When I was there a few months ago, I watched a news report about how the US is legalizing it in many states, and they couldn't even show it on tv. Almost every scene in the video was blurred out.
