Because cleaning copper is a Giant pain in the ass and costly. France also banned aluminum cooking pans because they thought it cause Alzheimers, which is doesn't

Interesting article. Thanks for posting. I knew about silver, but not copper. Now that superbugs are threatening to return us to the pre-antibiotic era, maybe a return to the old techniques is needed.

Plastic is cheaper than copper and it's not feasible for anyone to sue a hospital based on the fact that they neglected to implement copper. That's my Occam's razor of the day.
