Just had to throw that out there, balls had been itching for a few days, not any longer....

You would be shocked at how many nurses (especially LPN) do not properly adhere to patient precautions, that's one reason C-diff is rampant in many hospitals.

I wouldn't be surprised. Same reason diabetics are told to continually raise their blood sugars and then use drugs to bring them back under control: $$$. Docs can't be sued if a diabetic has issues from high blood sugars, only low blood sugars. So they keep them high and if your foot falls off or you go blind oh well.

Yes, I suspect this is the strongest factor. As someone mentions in the comments: there's no patent on copper, hand gel though....

Worst part about this is the Chinese are the biggest producers of stainless today partially because of the heightened demand and the quality has gone down enormously. It's not unusual that I have to go back on jobs because of rust spots showing up after a year or 2 of exposure to the elements. That didn't use to happen unless finishing tools were contaminated.
They've been known to lie/cheat on Mill Specs

With our insane regulations I wouldn't blame them. Same with Volkswagen.
