The difference is that people have been coping with mental illness for all of human history, and only in the last few hundred years have they been able to rob other taxpayers to fund their "muh crippling disability" lifestyles.
Someone who is physically disabled like a paraplegic is one thing, though I would hope even that person could find work doing text-to-speech writing (for example). And some mental illnesses are legit excuses for someone not to be told "get over it and get to work." But we are subsidizing otherwise healthy people to behave like they're helpless, and it's not ultimately good for anyone: not the taxpayer, and not the gibs collector, and not society at large.

With 17 years of chronic incurable disease fucking up nerves and muscles to the point where I sometimes have to call in sick every workday of a month I say, if the disability can be treated reliably then they should not get disability pay. It only makes sense to try to fix the problem instead of brushing it under the mat and giving taxpayers another babysitting gig.
From the perspective I have in Sweden that is. Where people on the last month of terminal cancer and no living relatives get denied disability and support, but educated and healthy inside and out brats get the fast lane to early retirement because they haven't found any work, and the people cheating the system from money have no problem cheating millions out of them and out of the country.
If you can treat it, beat it.

and yet support for the Tories continues to grow.
Go have a riot over this and watch it grow even more.
