The difference is that people have been coping with mental illness for all of human history, and only in the last few hundred years have they been able to rob other taxpayers to fund their "muh crippling disability" lifestyles.
Someone who is physically disabled like a paraplegic is one thing, though I would hope even that person could find work doing text-to-speech writing (for example). And some mental illnesses are legit excuses for someone not to be told "get over it and get to work." But we are subsidizing otherwise healthy people to behave like they're helpless, and it's not ultimately good for anyone: not the taxpayer, and not the gibs collector, and not society at large.

'"These tweaks are actually about rolling back some bizarre decisions by tribunals that now mean benefits are being given to people who are taking pills at home, who suffer from anxiety," he said. this is why he's annoyed ultimately the goal of the government on welfare has been to try and create an artificial wedge between the "underserving poor" and "the deserving poor" to create the impression that their cuts are only falling on those who didn't deserve the money anyway, not ordinary people just doing the right thing. instead of making politically difficult moves, they've targeted the most vulnerable people who are least able to fight back. now the courts are actually challenging this wedge by overturning unfair decisions, instead of accepting that mistakes are made and trying to deal with that, he's doubling down on demonizing people with mental illness by pretending they are just lazy people who could overcome a little anxiety if they wanted to, in order to justify ideologically motivated cuts. it is shameful and cowardice.
