I'm 35 and this isn't only your age group and younger, I've met people in their 40's and 50's doing the same.
I'm always on time and make calls when something happens. It's also annoying as hell when its work and money is involved. If I'm told 8 I expect people to be there no later than 8 and ready to get started. I'm there at 730 and ready to start reading the book I brought because no one is showing up until 830 - 9
The best part about that it became such a problem that they decided we should start at 10, you can only guess how that turns out.
If I'm told a time I start billing at that time and I get going. If everyone wants to show up at 9, 10, 11 they can have at it, I'm starting at 8.
I really don't know how these people have jobs.
When I started working out of high school you better be 30 minutes early, otherwise you might not get scheduled the next day. Or your job was in question if you kept showing up late.

Good point. My previous comment I was saying how I didn't grow up with cell-phones. So, if you were late, you missed out, or had to rearrange your plans. Since people have cell-phones they can just call up, and re-adjust without consequences. It's still pretty fucking rude to be late though.

People might just think OP sucks, and choose to disrespect him by being late on purpose. But your probably right.

Because they're inconsiderate and selfish.

That's stupid. If you're early you're wasting time like a fucking idiot just to feel morally superior to the people around you.

It don't practice that because it's bullshit. If I'm on time I'm on time. If I'm late I'm late. That doesn't mean I don't make extra time in case of delays, but putting it the way you do just leads to inefficiencies.

This is something I always do. I don't think I've ever been late for anything except once or twice, when it was totally out of my control. That one time I was half an hour late for school the stupid fucking bus got caught up in some traffic accident, and I couldn't get off.

I really try and not be, but it somehow happens. I live 5 mins from work, wake up an hour early, still be 5 mins late. I hate it.

If you're late no matter when you start getting ready, then there is something in you waiting until the last minutes to actually get ready.
