It's nice to see good news for a change. The fact that video games only exist as ones and zeroes on a digital storage space (as opposed to, say, paintings, which do have a physical existance of sorts) makes it all the more important to preserve them for future generations.

I'm surprised they used USPS. They have such a poor reputation and for shipping something so valuable, I would have gone for a better service even if it would have been expensive af.
At least it had a happy ending.

It is my opinion that packing heavy & fragile things is an excellent test for determining if a person is on the low side of the Dunning–Kruger effect.

I had an over $2k package sent with signature delivery and the USPS person just scribbled some garbage and left it in my mailbox. I was tempted to claim I never received it and let USPS eat the bill, but realized that I had more integrity than USPS.

hell yeah. great to hear. this is genuinely good work that doesn't deserve the buckleberries and gorse the rest of life has to go through. (this is not sarcasm. i fully support this entire project and wish it nothing but the best and i hope it reaches completion...i love video games more than i should and 8-16 bit games hold a special place in my heart and life's timeline)

Great news! SNES has a beautiful gaming library. Glad to see a project like this active!

I'm guessing the media attention resulted in some Shift Lead asking the workers who handled the mail at the center that day "The package needs to re-appear here in this spot anonymously by the end of the day, or else we look at the security cams and fire the person who did it."
The package anonymously appeared in the spot soon after.
