The idea that I didn't NEED to have kids struck me around the age of 15/16. That's when I started to think, well, maybe this isn't for me. At 19 I started to travel and that only confirmed it for me. Now, at 22, I have the cutest kid to babysit and that has been the biggest confirmation for me so far. I like kids, I love working with them, but hell no I'm never going to be a mom. I'd be a shit mom. It's not for me. It doesn't suit my personality and life goals.
For me, about 6 months ago. Prior to that I wanted 2 before I was 30 (am currently 26). I have no desire for offspring at the moment. I am actually considering a vasectomy after banking some mini me's in a private facility in case I change my mind. If I do change my mind, I'll likely be a single father and opt for a surrogate mother. I have no interest in sharing the rest of my life with somebody.

When I was in my early twenties or so... I ended up making it something that permanently will never happen (children) from me, so when people say I'll change my mind now, I just smile like a shark and nod along.

I knew I didn't want kids when I was still one myself, around age five.
I didn't know it was possible to not have kids until I was a little older, so there were a few years there that I was really fucking depressed about the thought that babies were some unavoidable thing that just happened to you once you were an adult.

What?
I never said there was no way to be complete or fully adult without children, or even that I had that impression. What I said was that when I was five and didn't understand how babies happen and the means to prevent them from happening I was depressed as fuck because I thought they were inevitable.
And then I learned how human reproduction works and that such a thing as birth control existed.

I was telling my family while I was still in my teens that I knew I didn't even want to consider it until my 30s. My go to response was, "ask me in 10 years" since everyone always said, "you'll change your mind when you're older."
I'm 33 now and my mind didn't change.

I am in my 30s and have been CF since high school. People will continue to tell you that you will change your mind until you have aged more.
The last time someone told me that I would change my mind, I laughed at them and told them I would have to do a lot of work in a short period of time, since I am not married (dating another CF person), so I would have to dump my boyfriend, find a new one, convince him to marry me, get married, and then get pregnant... no happening.
