I work for a large engineering firm (+20 years), and yes, a 4 year degree is definitely worth it. The higher salaries come if you are willing to travel. The majority of the work is project oriented (6 months+) and big projects (pipelines, airports, government infrastructure, etc.) is where the big money is. Many companies will pay for your tuition and work around your class schedule, so maybe just jumping to another employer who is looking to groom engineers would be an option. 6 figures is actually average, so you are in a good place right now - 3 to 4 years is not long at all. Hope this helps somewhat, good luck in your career.

If you have the opportunity always always go back to school to finish. Jobs come and go, but that diploma will help to take you where you want to go, either up the food chain in your company or elsewhere. Consider trying going back to school part-time, like a night class or two, or even talk with your boss about leaving work an hour or two early to get to your classes. Keep in mind too that a lot of companies will pay the tuition for you to take classes. Best of luck to you.
