You should probably link to the other stuff you have already made, because it shows how good you are and can provide the community with ideas.
That being said I really like https://voat.co/v/youtube for it being sharper than the rounded stuff that is the standard right now.

Just had an idea. What if each question could be slotted into a category? Or labeled? For example, if you asked a question about politics, maybe it would be labeled "politics." If you asked a question about science it would be labeled "science." And so forth. Besides the aesthetics, I'm not entirely sure whether people would find this useful. I guess it could make it easier to scan questions.

Honestly, I prefer to keep the default voat style. It's simple, clean, and doesn't distract me from the content/questions/answers.
I use night mode, and some of the subs have styles that highlight topics in white. Kinda cancelling out night mode.

With the day/night mode and (as far as I know) no way to detect it, any major changes are probably going to break one of the two.

I'd like for it to toggle between light and dark with the night mode button. The previous dark theme was annoying on my PC.

All I ask is that you don't make it the dark theme by default, I've had to disable custom styles as a result of the theme on this sub.
night mode and dark themes are find for those who want it, however I imagine most would prefer a lighter easier to look at theme.. My left eye is also a lot weaker than my right and I found it a real strain to read anything with the dark theme.

I believe that is standard throughout Voat and couldn't be changed anyways with CSS.

I also really like how the threads come out on /v/osu if you hover over them with your mouse. Further, the fact that your points show up if you hover over your username is neat. The problem there is that the lettering is too large. The background on that sub is too invasive for a sub like askvoat - this is where I prefer the sharp and basic format of /v/youtube.

For a logo you could use the triangles in the Voat logo as points for a question mark, something like
V¿▲o▼?t (but then as a logo, you probably know what I mean)
I like Google's material design, so that being implemented into askvoat would be nice.
