Poverty is different from being poor, but poor people are mostly delusional. It's unrealistic expectations and envy of people around them. Do you really think your economic power is worse than a middle class person of 100 years ago? Not all of us can be rich and successful. Even if you could, would you really want to? A bunch of rich people are miserable pieces of shit.

Poverty is being poor. That's the definition. And it's not about expectations. Every morning I hope nothing bad will happen that could upset my precarious balance that keeps me in a home. If I get a little money there are several important things I need to spend it on. The choice for you is which thing you want. The choice for me is which I need least. Is it my rotting teeth? If I fix my car now and my tooth shatters I'll be in excruciating pain for months until I can get it fixed. If I save money for my tooth I may miss a job interview. If my computer dies I can't apply for work, and it's on its final legs. This is the calculus of poverty. Fifty dollars of fresh vegetables tastes nice and will help my health. But that means I have less to eat this month. I can pay off a credit card but what's the point when I know I'll have to charge it back up in two months, and with "borrowed money" credit which has higher interest? Poverty isn't what you think it is. It's a grinding battle to survive. I'm not looking at others in envy, I'm focused inwards for optimization.

I hope one day everyone is what you call rich and I can't understand the thinking that sees a need for socioeconomic stratification.

You are probably in poverty. Do you struggle with drug/alcohol abuse? That is usually the case. Hate to say it, but it's true. If so, focus on overcoming that if it's causing you more bad than good.
