There are many things that contribute to your sense of accomplishment and satisfaction at work. But at the top of the list are:

Recognition Appreciation Respect Knowing that you're valued by your employer as well as your colleagues "That's great," you may think. "But how do I get the recognition, appreciation, and respect that will make me feel better about my job?" It would take more than a short time to answer that question, but here are some great ways to get started.

I do enjoy my job a lot. I'm pretty Senior for what I do and I'm paid well.

That said, my commute sucks - not so much because of where I live, but mostly because of where the office is located: Surrounded by some of the worst traffic in the nation.

So remember: To a reasonable degree, your commute is part of your work day. I leave early nearly every day to beat traffic and see my family for a proper family dinner. Then, if needed, I'll do another hour or so of work from home after the kids go down.

Don't ever make the mistake of burning yourself out with a longer than necessary work day due to circumstances beyond your control. And if your company demands such, it's not a good company; find another job as soon as you can.

Nope.

But it pays well and allows me to do charity, help friends, cover my basics needs and save some money for myself.

No, I work the night shift, and as my mom has made painfully clear, working the night shift decreases your life-span... so I don't really see a silver lining to this.
