Bernie: Don't worry, the one percent will pay for everything.
Business Owner: I'm not one of the one percent and I can't afford to grow my business because of all the regulations.

Or have the government expand medicare for all so no business has to pay for healthcare, we may pay a little more in taxes but not having to pay for healthcare would be about the same. Plus prices would stabilize instead of being made up and negotiated down by insurance.
Edit: Also watched the video. Maybe she should take better care of her employees? Nothing in the USA says that businesses are allowed to continue to expand and grow and grow? I agree that its a large burden on small-employers, but so is providing a nice building and work environment.

I can definitely see that point of view but I also think education can also be seen as a public good. A more educated populace is correlated with a more prosperous country, public education is one of the most important aspects of any developed nation, its worth thinking about subsidizing all education similar to how we subsidized other private goods, or even public ones like infrastructure that are invaluable to the welfare of the state

“You don’t necessarily need a choice of 23 underarm spray deodorants or of 18 different pairs of sneakers when children are hungry in this country"
You having a choice of underarm care is starving children broc.

Ridiculous.
You just don't understand how socialism works:
There are certain things we all need; healthcare; roads; bridges; clean energy; water; housing; waste disposal; food; schools; etc...
So, instead of going it alone, we pool our collective resources via taxes.
We then elect politicians to act in our best interest and use our collective resources to procure the things we, as a society, need.
The politicians make sure everyone pays "their fair share." Inevitably, they will need more money.
Then, the politicians keep most of the money for themselves. Some goes to their cronies, and a fraction goes to token public relations giveaways to give "marginalized peoples" social justice.
Nothing gets fixed. The politicians need more money.
The people start to realize that their money is being embezzled by these politicians. The people start to ask questions.
You are trying to tear our great nation apart with dissent. We are fighting for the oppressed. Since you disagree with us, you must hate the oppressed.
Hate speech will not be tolerated. Dissent will not be tolerated. We must protect marginalized peoples.
The economy is slumping. The oppressed need more help. Looks like we are going to need everyone to give a little more.
Rinse, lather, repeat. Keep going until the country's economy collapses.
Claim that it wasn't "real socialism" - that's why it didn't work.
I swear socialism will work this time...

Politicians don't keep the money currently though, we live in an Oligarchy, so they give it to the businesses that help get them elected. Get money out of politics so they can't be bought off (and charge those who take bribes from companies with felonies). There is a way to do basic Socialism in this country (look at medicare) without fucking it up, but it requires work and takes away from profits so it ain't going to happen.
