What kind of dog is it, some are just huge and eat a lot, like a boxer, pitbull, or rottweiler can eat all the time and run it off

He's a Boston Terrier. Perfectly healthy for his size and eats a normal amount though
This probably won't work because fat = stupid and lazy. But... just a suggestion to maybe help keep your dad from giving pup every bit of scrap food ever.
I enjoy making my own homemade dog treats. There are tons of light recipe options online and I don't have to worry about all of the preservatives, etc...
Most of the recipes are simple and don't take too much time to make.
I don't really see this as a solution but maybe in addition to trying to educate your dad on the severe (potentially deadly, chicken bone??? Oh no!!!) health consequences his actions can cause along with shaming him it might help.
I know certain family members of mine they tend to equate food with love and it just causes all sorts of messed up issues.
See if maybe ham dad would join you with the pup to a trip to the park or just take the pup out in the backyard and throw a ball around to try to show him there are other ways (besides food) that Hammy can interact with the pup.
I hate to second the opinion already given here that I believe to be correct which is that you are going to have to watch ham dad like a hawk. If it's stupid enough to give a dog a chicken bone then it's stupid enough to try feeding the poor pup a chocolate bar.

My dad is the same way.. Always feeding our dog crap instead of paying attention to her or playing with her or taking her on walks.
I got fed up once and said, "She's a fucking dog, not a garbage disposal! Stop feeding her that crap" But they dont listen because theyre afraid otherwise the dog wouldnt like them because they dont put in the attention or care to get the dog to like them.

It's the exact same way here. They just never listen and are too lazy to take the puppy out on walks/out to play.

You are in my boat OP I have a fat kitty (aka pumpkin spice ) and I'm ripping my own hair out trying to get my fat mother to get serious about his weight.
I'm sorry to say this but you'll just have to monitor the puppy as best you can and have an outside backup incase you really gotta seperate the dog from your dad.
Best of luck

Disgusting!
I know a fat piece of shit who feeds ice cream to her already fat cat. I made the comment under one of her cutesy photos of her cat eating ice cream "That's unusual, most cats are lactose intolerant." (Actually all cats are lactose intolerant but I was trying to be nice.) 3...2...1..."REEEEE!" "Muh cat is muh baby!" "It's just a tablespoooooonnn!" "You don't know everrrryyythinggg!" "I love muh caaaaat!" eye roll Fats should be banned from owning pets.

That's sooo messed up. This should be considered animal abuse, being completely serious. The poor animals can't do anything because they don't know any better :(

Try bullying him, its how i got my dad to get more fit.
[–] HammyFlammy [S] ago
I've tried. He would usually just go to my family and complain about me being mean to him, and I'd get shit for it. By the way being "mean" is telling him he's overweight and needs to stop eating so much crappy food.
The weak will naturally find themselves at the bottom of people, unfortunately without constant struggle you cant make the weak strong.

This makes me so angry. I wanna beat the shit out of your dad. No offense though.
We have a small bichon and my mom was awesome when it came to monitoring him and ensuring that he was being fed a healthy diet when he grew up. The idea of someone giving a dog human food like in the Disney/Pixar short Feast just makes my blood boil.

I know! I would have no problem with you beating my dad up, actually I would encourage it.
