The "right to repair" is precisely that, though.
This isn't about forcing Apple to make it so you can fix their stuff, it's about forcing Apple, General Motors, John Deere, and others from slapping a DMCA notice down or even taking you to court for wanting control over something you actually own.
Apple already sells spare parts. They already provide manuals. This isn't about forcing them to just hand that stuff out like candy but instead saying, "no, you can't sue people for fixing their computer and you can't sue somebody for hosting a PDF of a tech manual." People get bullied all the time by these types of corporations, so you have to go to a ~certified~ technician for something you could easily do yourself. Oh and did I mention that anyone can become one of these technicians? Yep, you just have to shell out more shekels dollars and then you're allowed access to their secret stash of "quality" spare parts. Yeah. Anyway normally this voids a warranty, which is fine, but it stops being okay the moment it crosses a step beyond that.
I guess this is a prime example of why you shouldn't be a greedy dick, because if they hadn't gone around threatening to sue people and shaking them down for every nickle and dime they have we simply wouldn't be angry enough to do this.
