Thomas Malthus was himself a Reverend, and the position we find in Africa is merely the removal of the normal checks to increase in population, that were until recently universal. Eventually some barrier shall introduce itself by necessity, whether want of food or water or some other factor. Charity is better directed to the living, than to those yet to be conceived but already condemned to misery. Sterilisation is also certainly superior in every way to murder.

Relevance to v/christfollowers?

yes, because many Christians have dedicated their lives to helping these people, are you that dull?

Sterilization is sinful and unchristian. We have no duty nor right to regulate their breeding.
That being said, their population is being held artificially high by western aid, which they should be weaned off of. Nature will run its course and they will reach a sustainable population for their industry. They will learn that breeding when you have no resources leads to almost certain starvation and will treasure abstinence and chastity a little more. Win/win

The west needs to stop giving them charity. Western charity is what is destroying Africa. Free food/supplies keeps the local African farmers out of business because they can't compete on the market next to free stuff. This then feeds into the cycle of evermore dependence on foreign aid to feed the population because there's lesser and lesser native farmers growing food locally. Endless free food through foreign aid also makes the population explode which then amplifies all these problems further. It's a vicious cycle. The humane thing to do would be to cut off the welfare and aid and let nature sort it out.

wouldn't it be more moral just to bomb these affected zones? rather than cut the source which keeps them alive?
btw that is an interesting analysis
however, don't you think the farmers or people would eventually cultivate the seeds for growing the food?? i suppose if they are trying to have seeds imported they wouldn't have money to do so.. but they don't even have internet access?? i suppose local sellers would go out of business... and the farmers wouldn't have the money to buy my resources with.. so everyone gets poorer then?

Either way the outcome is tens of millions of dead Africans.
