There is no sure-fire way to know, but there are some indications that may point to cheating. I'm going to leave each one with an alternate explanation or three.

  1. Sudden decrease in sexual interest in partner (could also result from new medications or dosages, as well as other life changes)

  2. Sudden increase in sexual interest in partner (could also result from new medications or dosages, as well as other life changes)

  3. Unfounded accusations of cheating (could also be a sign of lost of trust, etc.)

  4. A new tendency toward secretiveness (could also be a sign of addiction, alienation, etc.)

  5. A new, unexplained tendency to spend time away from home (could also be a sign of addiction, alienation, etc.)

In short, look out for unexplained, major changes in behavior that could be signs of cheating (suddenly wanting to eat crescent rolls for every meal--probably not a sign of cheating, unless it's with the Pillsbury Doughboy). Also, please have some evidence before making accusations. Accusations of cheating can have a damaging effect on a relationship, and there's no need to inflict damage without cause.

That's some pretty well thought out reasoning.

If the can fits in there there's probably something going on

If you walk in on them having sex with someone that isn't you, there is a chance they are cheating on you.

But can you prove it isn't you?

Only occasionally.

Did they cheat on their previous SO to get with you, then yes, they're cheating on you.

  • Distant
  • Combative
  • Away more often than not

Those are usually signs of it...but cheater's typically have a past of cheating. If they do it once, you ARE NOT a special snow flake, they WILL do it again.

If there is someone in her family that you don't get along with, and she claims to be doing more and more stuff with that person. If it starts happening a lot more often, she's probably not at her sister's party, or having lunch with her sister. She's at her co-worker's party, and having lunch with him.

That makes sense, if any questions arise as to why you were not invited it would easily be dismissed with a "You two don't get along very well so we'll avoid the possible drama."

Trust your gut and have a calm logical discussion if you have anything on your mind. Stay away from accusations. Just ask questions and see where they lead you. If the person gets jumpy, there's probably a reason.

This is one philosophy on the subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgWgEoaAYDY

Probably not the greatest advice but I can see a few situations where it would work.

Similar to an earlier reply of a taste test.

It's a difficult question. You could say it's suspicious if they start acting differently, but that can be for a lot of reasons.

I agree with another poster there. If they want to cheat they will do it and it can be hard to detect.

Make sure you know what kind of person they are. If you involve yourself with and decide to trust the wrong kind of person, a person that lacks empathy and integrity, you will be burned.

True, a number of reasons could cause changes in behavior. And as the other comment said, a cheater will cheat regardless.
